6 Tips to Survive Halloween Weight Gain and Head Into the Holiday Season on A “Lighter“ Foot

1. Give trick-n-treaters ALL of your candy. Don't skimp on how much candy you give away, in hopes that there's some left over for yourself. The longer the treats stay in your home, the more likely you are to eat them. Remember, out of sight, out of mind.

2. Choose hard candies such as lollipops over chocolate bars such as snickers. In general, hard candies have fewer calories that chocolate. For example, 2.1 oz of a snickers bar has 280 calories compared to a lollipop with only 22 calories. That means, a snickers bar has over 12x more calories than a piece of a lollipop.

3.Eat a healthy snack or a small meal before going to a Halloween party, so you will be less tempted by the unhealthy party food.

4. Choose the healthiest treats possible such as pretzels, trail mix, applesauce packs, raisin boxes, and or animal crackers. These snacks can be low in calories and low in fat, and parents will love you for it

5. Buy your candy the day of Halloween rather than a week before. This will prevent you from devouring the treats before Halloween day arrives.

6. Consider buying a candy that you don't like to avoid the temptation of overindulging.

The day after Halloween, get rid of all the left over Halloween Candy. Give it to your enemies, take it to a homeless shelter, flush it down the toilet. Do whatever you have to, but GET IT OUT OF YOUR SIGHT!

I hope these tips help you stay lean and prevent the Holiday fifteen, but if you need a little guidance and accountability check out our UPDATED schedule for Lake Country Boot Camp at www.lakecountrybootcamp.com.

Have a good weekend,
